Research interests:
Influence of growth and maturation on motor performance. Investigation of issues related to growth, maturation, and motor development in applied settings such as urban areas, youth sports programs, and schools.

Professional activities:
  • Motor Development Academy of AAHPERD: Chair, 1986. Have also served on Newsletter Policy Committee and nominating committees.
  • North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity: Member of motor development program planning committee, 1981, 1994, 1997; Host and co-director of conference, 1983.
  • Faculty and Professional Women's Association.
  • Reviewer for six journals including Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, Advances in Motor Development Research, and Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly.

Awards:
  • Outstanding Young Alumni Citation, Georgia College, 1982
  • Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award, Michigan State University Alumni Club of Mid-Michigan, 1996.
